McKinley Presbyterian Church and Foundation
Getting Involved
We know that people differ in what they want from a church. Some simply want to enjoy the worship service on Sunday. Others look to the church for fellowship. Still others want to work side by side to create a better world.
We respect everyones right to participate in his or her own way. Everyone, however, is always welcome to sing in the choir, attend adult education classes, serve on a committee, or participate in one of the many opportunities for fellowship and service at McKinley. Some of the many ways folks can get involved include the following:
Choir
The McKinley Choir is comprised of those who wish to participate actively in the music making of the church. During the school year, the choir meets 7:00 - 8:00 pm on most Wednesdays in the sanctuary and 9:50 on Sunday mornings. Come let your voices be heard.
To see some of the recent pieces performed and the current choir schedule, visit the choir's webpage.

Crop Walk
Each year Mckinley volunteers participate in the annual Champaign Urbana Crop Walk, a local fund raising event for local hunger-fighting agencies as well as the international relief and development efforts of Church World Service.
The Spring 2007 Crop Walk is Sunday April 15, starting at Vineyard Church at 2:00 PM.

Food Pantry
The McKinley community maintains a food pantry in the Foundation building. Once a week some clients of Developmental Services Center make a food delivery to a family designated by Empty Tomb. Members of the McKinley community are asked to support the food pantry with donations of nonperishable food items which can be placed in one of the Food Pantry brown barrels (located in the church and Foundation). Cash donations are also collected on the first Sunday of each month during the worship service.

Intercambio Cultural Maya
Now in its 24th year, Intercambio Cultural Maya is an ecumenical service-learning program, working on cross-cultural community development projects in the Yucatan peninsula of Mexico. The Intercambio program began at McKinley and has enjoyed continuous McKinley community support and involvement since the beginning. Volunteers can participate in a 7-day to 14-day work project either during midsummer or over the winter break after Christmas. Participants will have an opportunity to immerse themselves in a Mayan community and, in the process, learn a great deal about both themselves and Mexican indigenous culture. The Intercambio web site provides additional information about the program at http://www.intercambio-maya.org
