This Sunday, April 9: Holy Week at McKinley

Categories: Church

Choir rehearsal: 10 a.m. in the sanctuary. Others are welcome to use the pews for quiet contemplation.

Fellowship: 10 a.m. Join others for treats, drinks, and conversation in the basement fellowship space.

Worship: 10:30 a.m. This Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week. Sunday’s worship will feature readings beginning with the traditional “Triumphal Entry” of Jesus to Jerusalem—also known as Palm Sunday—and continue through Holy Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. The readings will outline the actions of the chief priests and legal scholars who, unhappy with Jesus’s message and popularity, took matters into their own hands to try to determine the course of events. As part of those readings, congregation members will be asked to identify their worries and hopes for the world in which we currently live.
(Please note: we are not reading the Passion narrative this Sunday. To hear the events of Holy Week Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, join us for Maundy Thursday worship in the sanctuary from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and Good Friday worship at 7 p.m. at Bethel AME Church at Park and 4th.)

After worship: Palm Sunday potluck brunch. Join us for McKinley’s annual tradition. Eggs, sausage, and bacon are provided. We ask those who are able go bring a side dish to share: hot or cold veggies in particular. Food may be delivered to the Presby Hall dining room before worship, beginning at 9:45 a.m.
